Men's Competition Divisions
(See RULES tab for requirements and scoring criteria)
Athletes are assessed on muscle size but in balance/proportion with other major muscle groups; with a high degree of definition and muscle separation. Size, proportion and definition make up the three equal components that judges will base their score on.
Classic Physique is for athletes who meet height-to-weight restrictions. These restrictions reward an athlete that may have less muscular mass than open bodybuilding so special emphasis is placed on proportions and conditioning. Athletes with a "classic" X-frame--wide shoulders, a small, defined waist with proportionate legs will excel in this division. Please see the "Rules" Tab for the chart with weight allowances based on an individual's height for this division.
The Men’s Physique category is for men who prefer to develop a less muscular, yet athletic and aesthetically pleasing physique. Judges will take the whole physique into account. Judges will be looking for fit contestants who display great shape and body proportions, combined with balanced muscularity and overall condition. Extreme muscularity and definition are detrimental to scoring in this division.
